XXX, a new multi-use art space officially opens Saturday night with a music event titled Future Dancehall. The four-d.j. extravaganza features Dancehall music, in addition to its cousins, Ragga, Drum & Bass, Dub, and Lovers Rock.

Located at the end of Wing Lok Street, on the Sai Ying Pun border of Sheung Wan, the basement space is looking to provide a new home for the city’s underground music and art scene. (more…)

woaw eye eyewear glasses shop hong kong

Friday night saw the opening of WOAW!, a very impressive pop-up store for fashionable eyewear, curated by Kevin Poon of CLOT. The shop is stocked with hard-to-find brands and is located on ‘Food Street’ in Causeway Bay’s Fashion Walk.

surf rock vampires must die FLY

What would the music be like at a haunted house party on Hawaii’s North Shore? A new party named Surf Vampires Must Die! answers that question with a night filled with “60′s Psychedelic Surf Rock and Garage Bands A Go Go.”

The d.j. behind the party works with fashion heavyweights such as Chanel, Chloe, and Versace, and is known for his creative musical selections. Expect authentic surf sounds from the 1960′s as well as little known garage band gems from around the world. (more…)

temple street night market hong HK

Construction started over a year ago on two grand archways at the beginning and end of the Temple Street night market in Jordan. Passing by recently, the finished product seems more at home at a Taipei night market than in Hong Kong’s urban landscape.

While it may make the popular street market more photogenic for tourists, it actually stands out because Hong Kong doesn’t typically go in for ostentatious ‘oriental’ design.

In fact, after a brief walk around our cosmopolitan city, foreigners have been known to ask bewilderedly, “Where’s Chinatown?” (more…)

tory burch fashion hong kong store

Few in the crowd that packed Hong Kong’s Four Seasons ballroom on Friday night were familiar with American fashion designer Tory Burch.

Opening a store in Central’s IFC shopping mall in December 2010, the brand is still establishing itself in the city, its first foothold in Asia. As is the case with most brands looking for expansion in flat economies, all roads point to China. (more…)
