Postmoderndisco, the alter-ego of Canadian Mandy Woo, created a downtempo track titled “Chasing Memories,” that begins with ambient noise taken from the busy streets of Mongkok. Even the clicking sound of Hong Kong’s sidewalk crossing aids for the hearing impaired, plays a role.

Toronto-based Mandy Woo did the the vocals, writing, and production of “Chasing Memories.” The poem at the beginning was written and recited by Jasmine Gui.

The song gets really good once the music kicks in at 2:15. Both the beat and instrumental are catchy, and the vocals compliment the instrumental perfectly.

The fade out at the end that brings back the ambient noise is also a slick touch.

While Mongkok doesn’t usually evoke a feeling of ‘chill’, the sheer musicality of this song makes it a winner.
