actually you'll find fama is a blend of hong kong kiddie culture and some genuine musical chops. that's to say, on the surface they may appear and probably are (partly) a unserious rap group but actually they've got a lot of good stuff to say.

it just isn't raw or sound 'hard'/'proper' as a hip hop group because as hkh as said, they're proper commercial and are meant for that. check out their live vids and you get tons of kids rhyming along with their witty lyrics.

to quote ah phat in the dare ya documentary, 'sure, softhard probably don't have the all round musicality like we (lmf) might do but the things they were saying are definitely not pop'.

Fantastic post dude. I literally spent the past hour Google-ing some of these guys and watching all the videos. The old LMF documentary is actually done pretty well. I really think the rap 'game' in HK pretty well summarizes the general attitude and culture of HK society.

thank you for the insight of the hip hop culture in hong kong, I can't wait to go to HK and hear some of these acts. Definitely it would be a welcome change to hear people rap in a different language.
