dj miss yellow hong kong HK

D.J. Miss Yellow is headlining her own birthday bash at Zuma this Friday, April 2nd.

Her last birthday extravaganza, co-hosted by Alive Not Dead and Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy packed the entire club Cliq!

The Alive Not Dead / Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy gang is back again this year at Zuma and you can expect another major party. People who attended Alive Not Dead’s Halloween party or New Year’s Eve event know what kind of scene to expect (‘Night of Mayhem’ would be the Facebook description!)

Birthday girl Miss Yellow along with Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy’s Enso and Kid Fresh will be behind the turntables. Expect a fun crowd, uptempo party atmosphere, and some amazing contemporary dance music.

Tickets are a reasonable $180 advance or $200 HKD at the door. You can purchase advance tickets here.

DJ Rafik Kid Fresh Hong Kong HK

If you’ve been hibernating over the Chinese New Year holiday, you now have a good reason to venture out of your cave.

D.J. Rafik
grew up surrounded by classical music, but at some point, he put down his cello and decided to take up the turntables as his instrument of choice. Six awards later, Rafik is a major D.M.C. champion, and has d.j.ed around the world alongside big names in dance music.

But does his background in classical music influence his d.j. sets? (more…)

Alive not dead New Year Eve HK

To me, Alive Not Dead are known for two things – operating a celebrity-filled social network and WILD parties. Throughout their existence, they’ve probably generated more hangovers than any other online brand. Even with all the high-profile actors, singers and models, their parties are never pretentious affairs but fun, jump up and down kind of nights.

After the success of Alive Not Dead’s Halloween party at Zuma (which was easily the best in town,) the social network is back again with a special New Year’s Eve extravaganza. (more…)

Rafik Pimpin Aint Easy Hong Kong

Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy, a monthly night that champions new styles of dance music is celebrating their first anniversary on Friday, August 7th. Over the course of one year, the somewhat under-appreciated party has brought over a dozen up and coming international d.j.s to Hong Kong.

P.A.E. has also filled a niche in the city’s nightlife landscape. Where other clubs such as Dragon-i and Volar bring major names, P.A.E. showcases rising talents who are just beginning to make waves on the global scene. (more…)

HITEC rave party Hong Kong 1

Get ready to be transported back to a time of smart drinks and smoke machines! Friday’s installment of the monthly Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy party features two d.j.s with new mixes out that are heavily influenced by the early 90′s rave sound.

DJ P.O.L. Style, based in Tokyo, and DJ Drafus Chow, a relocated New Yorker in Hong Kong, are headlining Friday’s event.

Not familiar with D.J. Drafus? Perhaps you know him by one of his many d.j. pseudonyms! (more…)

Pimpin Aint Easy Hong Kong 1

Friday night marks the tenth edition of Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy, a monthly night at Cliq showcasing contemporary underground club music. D.J. Miss Yellow, a frequent guest d.j. for the party, will be performing as well as celebrating her birthday during this installment.

D.J.’s Kid Fresh and Enso, the organizers of the night, will also throw down sets in the main room.

A special added attraction, the night’s event will be a two-room extravaganza featuring DJs in both sides of the club. DJ Ryan Li and friends will be holding down the Hip Hop room. It should be an exciting night with some great H.K. based talent.

Pat Drastik Suivez Hong Kon

It used to be that great d.j.s only came from a small number of cities around the world. Likewise, you could only hear cool club music when you went out in a handful of metropolitan areas. The reason for this was because music distribution was limited by geographic location. If you weren’t based in a major city, you simply couldn’t get your hands on all the music that was out at the time.

In today’s wired world however, that’s just no longer the case. (more…)

Pimpin aint easy club Cliq

Friday night I finally made it to a Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy event. The monthly party has been bringing interesting new d.j.s to Hong Kong for much of 2008. Despite wanting to attend for a long time, I’ve always had scheduling conflicts and haven’t been able to make it.

Last Friday was the first time I was free, and despite being sick, I took the chance to find out what it’s all about. (more…)

Alive Not Dead party HK

Wow! This is one Christmas party you shouldn’t miss! Alive Not Dead, the popular social network is teaming up with the Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy gang to bring Hong Kong a real trend-setter in international club music.

Daniel Haaksman is responsible for bringing Brazil’s Baile Funk music out of the favela and onto world dance floors. The results have been spectacular and have changed the sound of contemporary dance music. Also headlining is D.J. Beware, a three time champion turntablist who started in H.K. and has since relocated to Austria. He’s toured the world and made waves on the international scene. They are supported by PAE’s house d.j.s, Enso and Kid Fresh.
