Local Soul / instrumental Hip Hop artist J-Hoon launches the premier of his short film / music video “Asiatic Love” on Saturday night at Midnight & Co.
A collaboration between THEGETUP, SOUL FILLET, and the noted music-centric Midnight & Co., this event should be interesting.
J-Hoon’s an accomplished musician and has performed with big names both in Hong Kong and Manila.
Hong Kong doesn’t have many talented beatmakers, and we’re looking forward to seeing how he’s paired his visuals with his music.

After the debut single “U&ME” that struck a chord between Hip Hop, 8-BIT and Soul music, J-Hoon (Soul Fillet. Kjwan. Kapatid) born and raised in HK, comes back with a beat video in a semi-documentary format that portrays the city that he calls the “Jungle with Hope”. A city that he claims has defined his identity as an atheist, a producer, an emcee and a vocalist.
The hip hop-soul album NOODLES LP (now available @ White Noise Records, Causeway Bay) was also composed and produced entirely by J-Hoon in between the islands of P.I and Hong Kong. Directed and co-produced with graphic designer and photographer Ienne Janes, the song and video “Asiatic Love” gives you a visual treat of snapshots, loops, movements and human elements that we all discover on a normal ‘peaceful day’ when looking around and looking up the sky – smiles, people hustling, sunny day, traffic, movements and beats. These are what J-Hoon claims a good life! Oozing with jazz chords, a thumping beat and sonic elements that resonate the images we see on a peaceful day in bustling city.
“Asiatic Love” is a beat-instrumental that will make your head nod and a smile a on your face while we city people in midst of ‘9 to 5’ constantly ask “What makes a simple and good day?”
