“Vices,” an upcoming exhibit by Aaron Kai opening at Above Second on May 22nd, focuses on life’s temptations and the propensity to overindulge. Known for his remarkable paintings of waves, the Hawaii native has a cheeky side that veers towards social commentary.
The subject matter of “Vices” includes common items that people struggle with like too much food or drink, but also hones in on Hong Kong vices such as an over reliance on luxury goods. All the images are depicted in the artist’s signature colorful style.
For insight into Aaron’s work, check out the following video of him painting a large scale mural.
Above Second Gallery continues to bring a diverse range of young artists to Hong Kong. Before street art became mainstream in the city, Above Second was a pioneer in staging shows and bringing international talent to H.K.
