Destructive Steps – Hong Kong B-Boy Battle!



Destructive Steps Hong Kong, a major breakdancing battle is set to take place on Saturday, February 15th. The competition is a qualifying event leading up to the championship in Sydney, Australia. Whoever wins here will be on their way to compete with dancers from around the world.

Though you don’t see breakdancing in the streets every day, you occasionally can catch glimpses of it at events, or in public areas after hours. (You can sometimes spot B-boys practicing at Times Square after the shopping mall closes for the night.)

The competition to qualify for the championship in Australia is going to bring out the very best dancers in the city. If you’re interested in checking out what Hong Kong / Macau has to offer, this is the event to attend.

Have a quick look at some of the previous battles shot over the years at the Destructive Steps championship. The originality and skill level is very impressive! If you’re an old-school breakdancer yourself, there are many new moves and interesting combinations that the new generation has perfected.

The battle is based on a 3 on 3 format. The schedule for the event is as follows:

4pm to 5pm warmup, registration and free flow session

5pm to 10pm the battle will commence

10pm til late is the after party

Music for the night will be provided by DJs: Rocklee (Flame Illusion/SSSM/Macau) and Samuel a.k.a. TinChi (Hong Kong).

Judges for the competition will be B-boys: Puzzles (Supernaturalz/Canada), Jun Jun (Mental Fusion/China), and Kaka (Flame Illusion/Macau).

MCs for the evening will be: Joey O and Mike Magik.
