Yes, there is such a thing as Chinese Reggae. And on Friday night, you can find everything from Roots and Dub, to Dancehall and Jungle performed in both Mandarin and Cantonese! Jado from Shanghai’s Far East Lion battles “Mouse” from Hong Kong’s Sensi Lion band. It’s basement bashment at its best at XXX!

Over the last five years Reggae has become more and more popular in Hong Kong, supported by many of the city’s better underground music crews. Local bad bwoys HEAVY are behind this Friday’s special event.

Besides the multi-lingual Reggae battle, another highlight of the night will be selector Blood Dunza’s Jungle set featuring a live M.C.. The energetic, fast-paced rhyme flow is infectious – even if you don’t understand a word!

Supporting DJs on Friday include Hidden Dragon, Rayshizzle, The Groove Thief, and DubKong. Read more details on the HEAVY Facebook Page.

For fans of Chinese Reggae in all its various forms, this should be an exceptional night.
