Elements Hong Kong logo

Last week I decided to check out Elements, the new shopping center located in an area of Tsim Sha Tsui called West Kowloon. This is perhaps the city’s newest neighborhood and has been undergoing a huge spurt of growth over the last few years. Elements anchors several massive high-rise apartment complexes and the third tallest building in the world, the ICC, which is currently under construction. (more…)

It has since grown to cover most forms of transportation and small purchases. You can use your Octopus card at places like convenience stores, parking meters, fast food outlets, and supermarkets. FTV boat crowd 3

Fashion TV recently acquired a large cruise ship that they’ve re-christened the ‘F. Diamond‘. It’s been converted into a nautical event space, traveling from country to country with models living on board. Docked in Hong Kong for a week, they held two parties in collaboration with local clubs. The first one was with Dragon-i and it began at 2:30 am on a Sunday morning. The second one was held at a more reasonable hour with Prive, another local nightspot. The event was on a Thursday night, Friday being a public holiday in Hong Kong. How was the turnout? (more…)

Beijing Club HK Central Hon

Over the holiday weekend I had a chance to stop by and check out the newly opened Beijing Club in Central. As I mentioned in my previous post, this is a major new addition to the club scene. The primary impact is less on nightspots that cater to international crowds, but much more on venues that attract local partygoers.

As predicted, the crowd that once flocked to the now defunct Hei Hei Club across the street, has returned to the new venue opened by the same owner. The core crowd remains the identical group of heavily local, less international, mid-market revelers. In the short term however, Beijing Club will attract a wider variety of nightlife denizens who want to check out the new space.

The Beijing Club is divided into three floors and also features a large balcony. On my visits the place was too dark and crowded for me to fully evaluate the design, however it does seem like a hodge-podge of various motifs. Visitors familiar with other establishments in M-88 will feel like they’ve arrived in a totally different building.

O.K., so what did the dancefloor look like at 3 am on Thursday night? (more…)

Beijing Club Hei Hei Hong K

I picked a bad time to take a night off from the scene! The long awaited Beijing Club, aka the new Hei Hei club opened in M-88 tonight. I was on my way into Racks when I saw new door people and a line outside one of the elevators. This is a major opening as they’ve been renovating the space for nearly six months! (more…)
