Hong Kong Reggae night at Pier 7!

The Hong Kong Reggae scene lost an important figure when True Skool party organizer Miyuki decided to move to Spain last year. Luckily for us, she’s back for a few months and this Saturday she’s throwing her infamous Reggae party again at the bar and rooftop of Star Ferry Pier 7.

The Pier 7 cafe and bar is a dual indoor and outdoor space, so you don’t need to worry about the weather. Regardless of the temperature, the warm Jamaican vibrations will likely heat up the venue, which attracts an interesting, friendly, and music-loving crowd. This is the same party where people continued to dance even when it rained! The vibe at True Skool events makes it consistently among the city’s best recurring parties.

Occasionally, in addition to DJs, True Skool’s parties also include live Reggae singing or M.C.s.
Have a look back at their anniversary event featuring Million Stylez for a taste of the scene.

Before True Skool’s Rooftop Reggae series, which has been going on for over four years, Hong Kong Reggae parties mostly took place in small basement venues, which can’t compare to the rooftop events.

This Saturday’s edition features international selectors: DJ Youth Samoan from Portugal, Manlogik from France, and Bloodunza from the HEAVY HK crew.

True Skool events typically include a wide range of Reggae music from the latest Dancehall hits to custom dubplates that you won’t hear anywhere else. The DJs also mix in classic Hip Hop cuts as well, keeping things jumping. On a good night, the party goes very late.

  • Hey, i know this venue is a few years old, but I’m a Jamaican in Hong Kong and I’m looking for a reggae event this weekend, 4/14 or 4/15. Any recommendations would be great!
