American singer Caroline Vreeland wowed the audience at an after-party for the new Esprit ‘Im Perfect’ campaign. She started off her set with a sultry cover version of Kanye West’s “Love Lockdown” before diving into her own material for the rest of the night.

Performing over a paired-down instrumental, the gifted singer gave a strong performance and demonstrated the power and nuance she is capable of. The crowd, which has grown accustomed to shallow performances by many of today’s big name artists, was impressed.

Besides the singer, the after-party also featured multiple DJs including Le Baron Shanghai’s Victor Aime, Tokyo’s Mademoiselle Yulia, and H.K.’s K.P. for a full-on music event in the store’s basement.

With just a basic stage, a bar, and a little lighting, the party was actually more fun than many of the larger productions this year.

Esprit’s new shop takes over three large floors on Queens Road Central, just after the escalator. The brand has moved around over the last ten years as landlords in the neighborhood have kept increasing rents and (perhaps gullible) newcomers have been agreeable to the escalating prices.
