Martine Sitbon, a still life

Just in time for fashion week, French designer Martine Sitbon slipped into town to host a viewing of her private line, Rue du Mail, at the Liger boutique in Causeway Bay.

The intimate in-shop event was a good chance for guests to peruse her latest collection which consisted of a diverse assortment of dresses, some with elaborate fabric techniques and trims.

The audience of fashion editors and industry folk chatted together amicably and greeted the designer in a low-key environment. In contrast to Hong Kong’s typical glitzy events, the vibe at Liger was relaxed and cozy.

Martine Sitbon was approachable and friendly, which made the event more enjoyable than a more formal showcase.

If you’re a fan of Lane Crawford, I.T and D-MOP, then Liger is a boutique worth investigating. Situated on the relatively quiet Pak Sha Road in Causeway Bay, it occupies the first floor of an old walk-up building.

To enter the building, press the Liger buzzer and the gate will momentarily click open.

The space features contemporary designers and fashionable brands often not carried by the big guys. The store is well lit and open, which makes it a comfortable place to shop.

Owners Hilary Tsui and Dorothy Hui emphasize their own sense of style, and the collections reflect their personal taste, which makes Liger unique and refreshing.
